Furuno Solid State Doppler Radar & Pedestal – 4 ft. Array – DRS6ANXT – 4 - Review
The DRS6ANXT is a Solid State Doppler Radar with a Pedestal and a 4′ Open Array. It utilizes pulse compression and Doppler frequency shift sensing technologies, similar to the DRS4DNXT. It can be easily connected to TZtouch and TZtouch2 systems. Another advantage of the DRS6ANXT is its direct connection to a 12VDC power source, eliminating the need for an external power supply for cable runs up to 10 meters. This radar system provides a range of options for recreational and commercial customers, from a 24″ Radome (DRS4DNXT) to a 6-foot Open Array (DRS6ANXT), making it suitable for vessels of various sizes and shapes.
Target Analyzer is an innovative feature in the NXT family that automatically changes the color of approaching targets to indicate potential hazards. Green echoes represent stationary targets, land, or approaching targets moving at a speed of less than 3 knots. Red echoes indicate targets approaching the vessel at a speed of 3 knots or faster. This feature also works when tracking another vessel. If the target is getting closer at a speed of 3 knots or more, it will be depicted in red. Remarkably, Target Analyzer works independently of the vessel's own speed.
With the advanced Doppler technology of NXT Radars, interpreting and tracking threats has become easier. These radars quickly acquire and track targets in every sweep, providing speed and course vector information. Hazardous targets are displayed in red, making it easier to identify and predict their course. The NXT Radar's ARPA signal processor can track and display up to 100 targets simultaneously at any range. Additional features such as target trails and True Trail allow users to graphically see target direction, independent of the vessel's motion.
Bird Mode is another standard feature found in NXT Radars. With a single selection, the Radar automatically adjusts settings to enhance echoes and detect birds. This feature helps locate birds, which is an important step in finding the best fishing spots.
The resolution of NXT Radars is already impressive, but Furuno has incorporated its exclusive RezBoost beam sharpening technology to further enhance target separation. With maximum RezBoost setting, NXT Radars offer improved target separation and long-range target detection.
